The DaVinci Code / Codul lui DaVinci

Vara aceasta am citit “Codul lui DaVinci”, scrisa de Dan Brown. Mi s-a parut o carte foarte interesanta, care m-a pus pe ganduri. Sigur, este o lucrare de fictiune si trebuie tratata ca atare, insa legaturile facute intre diverse simboluri, momente ale istoriei si reactii ale unor membri din cadrul unor anumite institutii ridica multe semne de intrebare si te obliga, chiar si pentru o secunda, sa vezi totul dintr-o alta perspectiva.

Nu trebuie sa crezi ce scrie acolo, dar daca citesti aceasta carte si, inainte sa respingi ideile sau presupunerile respective, stai sa te gandesti daca macar este posibil sa fie adevarat, atunci eu cred ca aceasta carte si-a atins scopul, si anume sa te faca sa gandesti, sa te faca sa vezi si altfel lucruri prezentate pana acum doar intr-un singur fel. De acord, asta nu inseamna ca perspectiva lui Dan Brown este neaparat cea corecta, din punct de vedere istoric sau religios. Dar faptul ca iti arata si o alta versiune posibila a unui lant de fapte poate fi considerat un indemn la a incerca sa gandesti cu adevarat la ceea ce citesti, nu doar la a citi o carte care este la un moment dat la moda, ca sa te poti lauda ca ai citit-o si tu.

Mie mi s-a parut ca tot ce scrie acolo poate fi adevarat. Nu spun ca toate teoriile sunt corecte, neavand suficiente informatii care sa imi permita o astfel de concluzie, dar mi se pare ca toate informatiile cuprinse acolo sunt suficient de plauzibile incat sa ramai cu intrebari de genul: “si daca s-a intamplat chiar asa?”, “cum schimba / daca imi schimba felul in care cred / simt despre crestinism?”

Mi-a placut foarte mult cum este scrisa cartea, fiind foarte usor de citit si avand ici-colo replici si momente amuzante care aduc mici pauze in actiunea intensa ce te tine in suspans de la primul pana la ultimul cuvant.

Nu pot recomanda aceasta carte oricui, deoarece pentru a intelege cu adevarat teoriile prezentate este nevoie ca cititorul sa aiba macar niste cunostinte de baza din istorie, din istoria religiei crestine, din intelesul simbolurilor universale.

Stiu ca a fost facuta si o ecranizare cu Tom Hanks in rolul pricipal, asa ca mi-am pus in gand sa vizionez filmul, insa il voi vedea doar ca pe un studiu de caz, pentru ca am inteles ca s-a pierdut destul de mult din farmecul textului original atunci cand a fost adaptat pentru marele ecran.

Probabil venita si intr-un moment prielnic, cartea mi-a schimbat un pic si obiceiurile, deschizandu-mi pofta pentru mai multe carti, eu nefiind initial prea entuziasmata de carti, lucru intens regretat de mama mea, o cititoare mereu insetata de o carte buna. Acum sunt mai receptiva la citit si nu-mi pot imagina ca ma culc fara sa citesc macar cateva pagini inainte sa adorm, insa din pacate, oboseala adunata din timpul zilei combinata cu ora destul de tarzie pe care tot nu reusesc (oricat imi doresc) sa o aduc mai aproape de o ora normala de culcare, nu imi dau voie sa citesc in fiecare seara. Dar port mereu cu mine cartea pe care o citesc.

Data viitoare va voi spune despre cartea pe care o citesc acum, o carte care de asemenea a fost adaptata intr-un film de succes. Pana atunci, va doresc sa aveti zile usoare si frumoase!

During this past summer I have read “The DaVinci Code” by Dan Brown. I found it to be a very interesting book that got me thinking. Surely it’s fiction and one must remember that, but the connections made between many symbols, historical events and actions made by some members of certain organisations raise many question marks and force you to view everything from a different perspective, even if only for one second.

You don’t have to believe everything written there, but if you read this book and before rejecting the ideas and assumptions made, you sit and think whether there is a possibility for them to be real, then I believe that the book has reached its target, making you think and see things differently from the one perspective we are all used to seeing. Of course, this doesn’t mean that Dan Brown’s perspective is the right one historically or religiously speaking. The simple fact that it shows you the possibility of another version of the same events can be considered as a push to truly think about what you read, instead of reading something trendy for the sole benefit of being able to say you read it yourself.

I think that everything written in the book may be real. I’m not saying that all those theories are accurate for I haven’t got all the necessary information that will empower me to draw such a conclusion, but I find that all the information given seems true enough to leave you thinking: “what if things really happened like that?”, “how does this change / if it changes the way I believe / feel about christianity?”

I loved the way the book is written, making it easy to read. It features several funny lines and moments that create small breaks in the intense action that keeps you “hooked” from the very first word until the last one.

I cannot recommend this book to anyone because in order to be able to fully understand the theories presented it is necessary for the reader to have at least some basic knowledge about history, the history of christianity and the meaning of universal symbols.

I know there is a film based on the book, starring Tom Hanks as the main character, so I have decided to watch the film as well, but it will be as a small analysis upon the process of adapting the book to the screenplay, since I know that quite a lot of the initial charm of the text was lost.

Probably due to the timing of the reading, the book changed my habits a little as well. I now wish to read more books, which is a little awkward for I am not a book enthusiast, something that my mother regrets since she is always “thirsty” for a good book. Now I am more opened to the idea of reading and I cannot imagine going to sleep without reading at least a few pages, but unfortunately the fatigue of the day and the pretty late hour of sleep, which no matter how much I desire, I simply can’t bring it closer to a more normal time, don’t allow me to read every single evening. But I always carry with me the book I am reading.
